Homecoming Week Filled With Spirited Activities

Homecoming week is next week and Student Council has plans ranging from dress-up days to the carnival to the glowstick pep rally.

    Dress Up Days:
Monday – Teacher Swap Day: Have you ever wanted to be the teacher for a day? It’s your turn to take command. Teachers dress like their students and students dress like their teachers.
Tuesday – Disney Day: Students and teachers show off your favorite Disney character with Disney Day.
Wednesday – Nerd Day: Dress up like your best impression of Napoleon Dynamite to show off your smarts.
Thursday – Fraternal Twin Day: Guys grab your best girl friend and girls grab your best guy friend and match up for Twin Day.
Friday – Spirit Day: Show off your Maverick pride at the pep rally by wearing your favorite Maverick spirit shirt.

    Homecoming Carnival:
This year’s homecoming carnival hosted by Student Council will have no entrance fee to get in. The carnival will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. It will take place in the front parking lot of the school by the gym entrance and the band hall entrance. Come out to enjoy the festivities and relieve the stress of school.

    Glowstick Pep Rally:
Back in action for the first time in many years, the return of the pep rally on the night of the carnival will resume this year with a special glow stick pep rally beginning right after the carnival at about 8 p.m. Topping off the night will be a special spirit photo taken by the yearbook staff in which we will spell something special with our glow sticks.

    Homecoming Pep Rally:
The pep rally will take place during 8th period on Friday, Oct. 19 to get ready for the game that night. During the pep rally, the freshman, sophomore and juniors dukes and duchesses will be announced.
