Over the course of the Thanksgiving break, the Majestics traveled to Chicago for the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade and danced to “Snow” by Bing Crosby wearing matching green coats and hats.

In the days prior to the parade, the Majestics prepared for their performance while still making time for sightseeing.

“We’d wake up around 7 every day, then we’d meet as a group to go visit a part of the city,” sophomore Kate Leyendecker said. “Sometimes we’d get to separate into smaller groups and explore that way. My group went to Millennium Park and played in the snow, which was new. I took so many pictures.”

The sightseeing was fun for the girls, but the initial purpose of going to Chicago was to perform. The Majestics had 3-hour practices every night while they stayed in Chicago so that they could be prepared for the parade and the cameras.

“I feel confident in my performance, even if it was pretty chaotic,” junior Isabella Gandara said. “When we watched ourselves on TV, we looked very together, and I’m proud of the team.”

Jordan Villanueva, another line officer, was not intimidated by the rush of the parade.

“I’ve never performed in a parade before,” Villanueva said. “So having all the cameras surrounding us and being so close to our audience was a lot of fun.”
