In With The Old

As generations progress, many things start coming back in style. Living in the most modern century, consumers have experienced new fashion trends such as super skinny jeans and bodycon skirts. But now old trends – crop tops, palazzos, rompers, and high waisted everything – have made a full circle and come back in style.

Mavericks have such a diverse fashion sense. Some dress like their friends while others show off their personal style.

“Over the years, it has become easier to express my unique style in high school,” senior Darrah Ellis said. “I have a bohemian style and buy staple basics from stores like Urban Outfitters and Topshop and then accessorize them.”

The ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s have definitely affected the clothing choices of many fashion-forward people.

“I have a ‘follow the crowd’ kind of style and like to put my twist on it,” sophomore Lindsey Spencer said.

Her clothing item staples are big earrings much like the type of style in the 1990s as well as high-waisted pants. She enjoys shopping at Francesca’s and boutiques.

“Modest but fashionable is how I would describe my style because I believe that fashion is an art which can be expressed through your clothing,” senior Dina Chkarka said.

Chkarka loves the harem pants and palazzos that have come back in style.

These three girls gained inspiration from Youtube fashion gurus and bloggers, demonstrating how with the progression of technology, it has become easier for people to express their individual styles.

Fashion is cyclical which will be expressed through an individual’s unique style.
