Girl’s golf came home from the Northside Invitational in Seguin, Texas, on Oct.11 with great second place finish.

“I’m really proud about the girls because some of them had never played before and worked hard,” senior Avery Willenborg said.

Although this was the second tournament McNeil participated in this year so far, this was the first tournament many of the girls had ever participated in.

“It was really exciting,” sophomore Nani McDaniel said. “It was like a beginner’s tournament; it was very new.”

McDaniel placed 10th out of 54 individual players in the invitational and this was her first tournament to participate in. As well, Willenborg placed third individually.

“I’m proud of myself because I worked hard,” Willenborg said. “Throughout the years, I tried to improve the things that I’m not great at.”

The individual triumphs didn’t stop there for the golf team, as the girls placed second out of 12 teams. Juniors Rihanna Garcia, Hanna Solano and Allison Yonker were key players who helped secure their standing.

“We had fun with it,” Solano said. “There was a high level of team support.”
