My Privacy

The year is 2030. The government has gotten more, and more powerful. Donald Trump, is sadly our Dictator. I remember the years when we had a Democracy, where we had the freedom to privacy. That is all long gone. I was getting ready to do my morning ritual. Where I get up in the morning, go straight to work, and get insulted. As I opened the door to leave, the FBI opened the door at the same time. I sighed “Do you need to look at my phone?” They looked at me up and down with judgement. “Yes.” I gave them the phone and crossed my arms. It wasn’t easy living in the United States as a Muslim, especially with Donald Trump as the ruler.

He declared that three times a week we get our phones checked. We were targeted the most. But I was still prideful of my religion, I know that there’s good and bad people in the world. It’s like that with every race, and religion. We are all people, and the things we all do or get accused of should be based on character. As in the way we all treat each other. I’m one of the few who still thinks that way. They were taking longer than usual. I looked at them, and gestured with my arms that I needed to go. One of the officers asked me; “Your name is Ameerah right?” I nodded my head and looked at them with an eyebrow raised, “Yes, why?” The police officer asked me a really racist question that I’m never going to forget.

“You have a friend that has a name of a suspected terrorist, who is Somi?” I scoffed with disgust. “Just because she has a name that is not American doesn’t make her a terrorist!” The other officer looked at me and got in my face, I was in fear for my life. Fear that they will beat me, they did that to a lot of people who showed even a tiny ounce of ‘disrespect.’ He yelled at me, with spit shooting out.  “Listen here, you little piece of shit. I don’t know what you’re hiding from us, but we are going to find out. You’re under arrest.” Tears rushed down my face. Do they not see I’m human? Do they not see I have feelings like everyone else? Being moral has vanished ever since November of 2016. I wish that things weren’t like this, I wish people opened their eyes to see what this world has come to. I wish we could all come together and fix the love that is lost.

You know what they say, it can take a few bad people to change people’s view points about others. Ever since the San Bernardino case people became fearful of what to do. Apple was doing the right thing with securing everyone’s privacy, not everyone is a terrorist. But Donald Trump made a speech saying how we all ‘need’ to boycott Apple. And of course, a lot of people listened. He made hate speech after hate speech about people who weren’t like him who he saw as below him. It was like extreme after extreme, racism is still alive.
