The Leaning Pear is a fabulous restaurant in Wimberly. Salads, sandwiches, and tropical iced tea make the restaurant fantastic.

Fresh food, a cute town away from the busy Austin city, a little adventure mixed with delicious food, The Leaning Pear is the perfect place to go.

The Leaning Pear restaurant features a special dish and soup of the day, mixing up the already fresh menu. Of course, the best dish, the leaning pear house salad, includes pear, which comes in small or large and is served with “shallot vinaigrette, spiced pecans, local goat cheese, and pear garnish.” The add ons can, of course, be put on the side.

A small size is given as more of an appetizer, and one of their sandwiches pairs along just perfectly. The Cuban-style pulled pork sandwich – slow braised pork shoulder with pickle relish, spicy mustard, and provolone on grilled focaccia – is a great and tasty fare. To top off the meal, the tropical blended iced tea does just the trick. The blends of tea make a yummy concoction, along with a little sugar. The food is also fresh, coming from local farms in the area.

Besides delicious food, the restaurant itself is cute and tiny, but on the road to expanding. The building is stone with a mini garden decorating the front, and indoor and outdoor seating. For indoor seating there is one medium sized room that includes the small kitchen and the outside seating is considerably smaller with only a few tables. On a cool afternoon the outdoor seating is absolutely relaxing. The expansion of The Leaning Pear should be concluded in May.

To make the restaurant and fresh food even better, the prices are low and you get a reasonable amount of food. There are soup and half of a sandwich combinations for only $7.50, and you can make your own ‘combination’ of a salad and sandwich as cheaply as $11.

Head out to Wimberley today and visit The Leaning Pear at 111 River Road on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
