The Silent Chase

“RUN!”

Police sirens can be heard from a distance and I know that we are gonna get busted. Zach and I abruptly drop our spray paint bottles making a series of loud “klinks” and sprint away from the side of the City Hall.

The adrenaline pumping through me takes over my legs and I feel like I’m on cloud nine, besides the fact that I’m being chased by a bunch of stupid cops. We hop over a barbed wire fence that rips through our tattooed skin, and we charge into the nearest set of dark, muggy woods.

“Are you sure we aren’t being followed?”

“I sure hope not because there’s no way in hell I’m going to jail…again”

Beads of sweat drip down our faces as we finally halt our running. We are in the middle of no where with no direction and no light whatsoever. The silence of the pitch black surroundings is eerie when the only thing I can hear is our short exhausting breaths and some subtle unknown footsteps following behind us. My breathing stops cold in its place, and I’m overwhelmed by fear that shakes through my clammy body. I slowly grab my BIC lighter and flick it on to create an artificial light. I hold it out in front of me and see what i should have expected to be there.

“Well well well, trying to run from us again, huh? Boys, y’all are under arrest.”
