DreamWorks’ new animated movie, Home, hit theaters on March 27. This adorably funny movie is a must see for all ages. The movie is laced with hilarious comments, especially with the unique way that the Boovs talk.

Oh, voiced by Jim Parsons, is an alien on the run from his own race, but that doesn’t stop him from saying the funniest things. Offsetting Oh’s comments is the snarky and smart character Tip, voiced by Rihanna. The two are quite the unique combo, from the first time they meet and are forced together on a crazy adventure to the dance parties in the car.

Tip does more than provide witty comments: she also teaches Oh valuable lessons, ones that are meant for the viewers to take away as well. One of Tip’s lessons is to go towards the scary things, rather than run away, which is what the Boovs are inclined to do. By taking risks, the very low probability of success that Oh explains becomes 100% success and things really do work out alright in the end. Also, your mistakes are what make you human, and although Oh is not a human, he is not the only Boov to make a mistake.

One of the great ways that we see another one of Tip’s lessons, family is everything, playing out is through the close friendship between Oh and Tip. The two are on different adventures, but they grow close as they share life experiences with each other. As Oh says to Tip, “I am your companion on this ship.”

There is more to this movie than just hilarious comments and a great friendship. Each of the alien Boovs learn to be unique in their own way, rather than being categorized into intellectuals, police officers, etc., and how to show their feelings to one another. Although Boovs simply turn another color when their emotions change, (red for angry, green for lying, and blue for sad) they were never really able to share with each other. To think that all of the changes for the Boovs came about because of another one of Oh’s mistakes is another way to see Tip’s lesson come to life.

If you’re looking for a pick-me-up, this is the movie to see.
