Extended ACL Brings Excitement
The Austin City Limits Music Festival is one of the most popular and beloved attractions that the city has to offer. Each year, an eclectic variety of singers and bands gather at Zilker Park for an amazing weekend of concerts.
This year however, ACL has been extended to two weekends for the first time, Oct. 4 – 6 and Oct. 11 – 13.
The same bands from the first weekend will be playing at the second weekend. This offers Austinites a second opportunity to see their favorite bands in concert should they be unable to go on the first weekend.
“I think it will be really cool,” senior Alisan Turner said. “It always sucks when you wanted to go to ACL but you have one thing to do that weekend and you missed your favorite band.”
That being said, there are also people who see this repetition of concerts as negative.
“Why bother having two weekends if it’s basically just the same show both weekends,” senior Daniel Ryan said. “I’d rather be able to have choices for different bands the second weekend.”
The lineup this year includes everything from rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, alternative bands such as Phoenix, and throwback singer Lionel Richie.
