APs’ of McNeil: Associate Principal John Mark Edwards
Associate Principal John Mark Edwards has been at McNeil High School for 1.75 years. He attended The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he received his BA in Sociology. In honor of AP Appreciation week, here are some interesting facts about Edwards, from his favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor to advice he would give his high school self.
What is your favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor?
Chunky Monkey (but all ice cream is good ice cream)
What is your favorite travel destination?
Keystone, Colorado in the winter or Texas beaches in the summer.
Who is your favorite historical figure?
Martin Luther King, Jr.
How and why did you decide to work with students?
It all boils down to the fact that I loved High School. The teachers and the coaches that I had made a huge positive influence on me and I wanted to do the same for other students.
Have you picked up any new hobbies or started any projects during quarantine?
I started jogging regularly.
What advice would you give your high school self?
Dear Self: Your high school successes will set up your Adult Successes so work hard.
When you were in high school, what were your aspirations?
I started out High School, telling everyone I was going to be a doctor of sports medicine. I think I thought it sounded cool. Before High School was over, I decided I wanted to be a Social Studies Teacher and Soccer Coach.
