APs’ of McNeil: Assistant Principal Steve Schuhmann
Assistant Principal Steve Schuhmann is finishing his nineteenth year at McNeil. He was a social studies teacher for six years and an assistant principal for thirteen. He attended Texas Tech University where he received his BBA in marketing. In honor of AP Appreciation this week, here are some interesting facts about Schuhmann, from his favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor to advice he would give his high school self.
What is your favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor?
I like Cookies and Cream from Blue Bell. Never had Ben and Jerry’s
What is your favorite travel destination?
DisneyWorld Orlando, FL and Lubbock, TX
Who is your favorite historical figure?
Winston Churchill
How and why did you decide to work with students?
I have four kids and I always felt more comfortable working with kids all through my different jobs
Have you picked up any new hobbies or started any projects during quarantine?
I am about to begin Blade smithing. I’ve watched a lot of Forged in Fire on the History Channel so my kids signed me up for classes at Pioneer Farms!!
What advice would you give your high school self?
Pick a passion not a job. There will always be good and bad days. Passion will make the bad days good.
When you were in high school, what were your aspirations?
To find a career I enjoyed and have a great family. After 10 years at McNeil and 35 years of marriage with 4 kids I say I’m a Success.
