‘Furious 7’ silences doubters
The seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise is a delightful treat, oozing with an abundance of lip-smacking cheese. With its fast cars, beautiful women and ridiculous stunts, Furious 7 is the ultimate concoction for awesomeness.
Wedged in the doldrums of pre-summer, the fast-paced action and nerve-shattering stunts provided for a deep breath of fresh air. This movie worries not about pretentious metaphors or fancy camera tricks as it establishes itself as a pedal-to-the-metal thrill ride from the get go.
Interspersed throughout the movie are plenty of touching moments, many of which deal with family and relationships. Such thematic emphases give the movie more of a drive and a greater degree of substance.
Kurt Russell’s performance is fantastic, Vin Diesel once again inhabits his role as Dominic Toretto, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris have excellent chemistry and Jason Statham convincingly pulls off the action villain badass trope. Paul Walker’s role is handled with expert care throughout the film, rendering it difficult to discriminate between his film and his CGI. There’s even a heart-warming tribute to Walker at the end, which, admittedly, may have aggravated my allergies.
All in all, Furious 7 is worth the price of admission. Catch it while it’s still in theaters near you.
