The new iOS 26 iPhone update was released on Sep. 15, with many new features being added. Their ”Liquid Glass” feature was one of the main advertisements, displaying a new sleek look. While many new aspects were added, this update was unnecessary. Many of the new additions did not help the apple user in any way, just adding a “better” look.
Many people expect for a new update to add new functional features, but not for Apple. Every time they come out with an update, there are a few good features and the rest is all looks. It was the same for iOS 26, with new designs for the keyboard, messages, updated looks for apps, etc.
New apple intelligence features also became apparent with this update, with “Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, Phone, and with AirPods.” as well as “users can take a screenshot and ask ChatGPT questions about what they’re looking at on their screen to learn more, as well as search Google, Etsy, or other supported apps to find similar images and products.”
With the translation feature, some claim for it to translate well with a slight delay. It’s in a very early stage with only a few languages available. It only currently supports English, French (France), German, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Spain) in beta. It’s a good feature in thought, but its execution is not yet advanced enough. It would be better if there was more diversity in the languages so more people could use it.
Another new thing added is Genmoji. Genmoji is a feature where you can create your own emojis by combining multiple ones, and will generate it almost instantly. While yes this is a fun new feature, it is only limited to iPhone 15 and up users. Anyone who doesn’t have a 15 or later cannot use Genmoji nor can they receive it as a normal emoji, rather an attachment.
