Misconception and Deception
I studied the two men in the room I was imprisoned in. Jake Charles, known as Nick Taylor stood next to a man I did not recognize.
“Are you sure you weren’t followed?” the stranger asked Nick. “Positive. I covered my tracks.” He responded calm and confident. “Is everything ready?” his accomplice sheepishly checked. “Yes.” He quickly responded. He approached me with an egotistic swagger while properly removing his coat and placed in on the table beside me.
“I suppose you know what happens now don’t you.” He riddled.
“Real question is do you?” I answered. He paused for a moment
“You’re really funny you know that? now you have the gall to try an intimidate me?” While he was gone I unhinged my shackles and plotted my revenge. I kept up the illusion that I remained imprisoned until the time was right. His weakness was his arrogance.
I began my plan. I dropped my shackles and tossed his jacket in his face. I picked up the crowbar that had broken my bones just as he reached for his revolver I jolted him with a hit to his head. It either killed him or left him unconscious. Either one didn’t matter to me, so as he met his justice, it didn’t by what hand.
His partner stood quivering in fright. It was too much for the sheepish man to bear, his leader had been conquered. “You’re screwed no matter what, I know your face.” I reminded the shell of a man. But before I could finish, he pressed a gun to his head and sent fractions of his skull across the room. He couldn’t face the consequences to his actions. The only thing I felt was empathy for the waste of potential that is bestowed within every given life.
