The Real Cookie Monster #kids

The smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies filled the house with its sweet chocolatey scent. Johnny and Jim peaked into the kitchen, watching as mother pulled out a sheet from the oven, lined with  golden cookies. Johnny’s and Jim’s mouth started to water. They craved the taste of an oven baked piece of heaven. Desire drew them closer to the the counter, lined with dozens of chocolate chip cookies, warm and waiting to be eaten. Both reached their hands up for a cookie. Before they grabbed one,  mother slapped their hands. “Im sorry, but no cookies this time. They are for tonight.”

Just one cookie won’t hurt right? Maybe I will take a nibble of one. No one will notice a nibble of the cookie gone, right? Jim sat contemplating. Eat a cookie…or maybe a piece of one. Creeping around corners, Jim slid into the kitchen. He crawled around to the counter, reaching up for a gooey cookie, but couldn’t feel anything. He slowly rose up, peeking onto the counter. Nothing. The counter was bare. Just a few crumbs remained.

“Did mother leave for the event?” Jim wanted a cookie, or at least a bite of a cookie. “These crumbs would have to do.” Jim scraped the crumbs onto a plate and grabbed the milk from the fridge. You can’t have a cookie without milk right?

Jim walked towards the cupboard for a glass. Shocked. There was Johnny. Sitting in the cupboard covered in cookie crumbs. Dozens of cookies lie all around him. “Dude! Johnny! Do you got any left?” Johnny nodded, scooted over, handed Jim a stack of fresh baked cookies. Jim crawled in the cupboard, “Thanks. Were you followed here? Mothers going to kill us.” “At least we got cookies.”
