Same Time Next Week
“Are you sure you weren’t followed?” The words hung in the air, thick and heavy only adding to the tense feeling in the room.
“I’m sure.” His voice was as soft as the touch he used to cup her cheek.
There was a heavy silence before he leaned in and slowly kissed her on the lips. Even though they had been meeting for over a year now, there was still a fresh innocence between them every time they touched. Perhaps innocence was not the word to use, for every meeting the two had went against the wedding vows he had taken years ago.
“I love you,” She whispered softly, nuzzling her forehead against his neck.
All he could do was whisper a soft, “And I you.” When they were apart, all he could think of was her, and when they were together he could only think of them eventually being torn apart. This made both their time together and their time apart torture, and he could tell it affected her too.
Just as he was about to remove his coat, the sound of a car pulling into the motel room vibrated outside the window. A feeling of dread became noticeably present in the air. Quickly, he moved to the window and peaked through the shudders.
“Who is it?” She asked, pale in the face.
“It’s her…It’s my wife.” He answered, turning and facing her.
They stood there for a few moments completely still until a voice and a loud clacking rang through the TV studio.
“And cut! That’s a wrap! Great job, everyone. I’ll see you all, same time next week! We’ll be filming the big confrontation!”
