The Uncontrollable Mind
Nick was sitting on his front porch slowly swinging on his swing. It was a beautiful day, the breeze slowly rocked trees and the sun slowly went to rest. Nick’s mind was a thunderstorm of thoughts slowly wearing him down. The dark storm of thoughts flooded his brain and infected his mind. Suddenly, Nick struggled to breathe and his chest began heaving violently. The swing shook as if being struck by an earthquake. Darkness enveloped his vision and his thoughts became cloudy. His eyes closed and his consciousness faded.
He slowly regained consciousness after a couple of minutes of sweet relief. Tears began to slowly roll down his cheeks, the saltiness drying his mouth. This storm lasted 30 minutes, but nobody was around to comfort him. The great sea eventually faded and he slowly rose from his resting place. Nick shuffled his feet as he walked inside his abode and saw his parents fighting again. They had no idea how he was feeling. He put on his mask and gave a genuinely fake smile. His parents immediately stopped and asked him how he was doing. He gave his standard answer: fine. They thought nothing of it and didn’t even notice his tear-stained face. His parents stated that he should go upstairs because they had to discuss things. What a standard remark by his parents. Nick creeped upstairs and locked himself in his room. Mommy and Daddy were screeching at each other downstairs about each other’s addiction to cocaine. It would seem that they were perfect for each other, seeing as how they partook in the same drug. People who are alike do seem to repel, however.
Nick listened to them screeching like vultures for hours. The solemn figure eventually decided that he couldn’t take another day of this, and decided to act that night. This boy felt like his life was out of control and wanted to take control of his own death, if nothing else. He pretended to be asleep when his parents came up to bid him good night. Nick listened as they walked back downstairs and heard the closing of their bedroom door. Nerves rose as their offspring waited for another two hours to make sure his parents were fast asleep. It eventually came time to make use of the giant oak tree in his large backyard. Daddy enjoyed fishing, so there was plenty of rope lying around. His father, who so greatly screwed up Nick’s life, would serve useful in his death. Nick grabbed some rope and set out on his final adventure. The sky was quite clear and the stars shone brightly. The perfect backdrop for dying. Nicky boy made a noose, something he learned how to do from the internet. Thanks Google! He grabbed a ladder and tied the noose around the tree. Nick stood on top of the ladder and placed the noose around his neck. He counted down: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, blast off! He jumped off of the ladder and suffocated. The next morning, his parents found him swinging slowly in the wind, the tree creaking at every movement. They shed tears of sadness when they found him, but never changed the behavior that drove him to this in the first place. What great parents they were!
