As seniors, students have the decision of which college they plan to attend thrown out in front of them. Fortunately, they have two college visits that count as excused absences. In order to accurately choose a right school, it is almost essential that students take a visit to the college. Everyone needs to take advantage of the opportunities given to them by the school, allowing students to miss a day so they can focus and make a strong decision for their future. Students who don’t take the opportunity to go on college visits are doing themselves an injustice. There are more ways to go on the visits than just during the school year. You can always go visit universities and colleges on the weekends or on a holiday that we don’t have school, even during the summer of junior year. It is never too late or too early to start looking and thinking about the future.
By going to a college visit, students are able to experience the college life first hand and walk the campus just as the students of the university do every day. In addition, they get to do all the things that the college students do, such as eating on campus.
College visits are good because students get that personal attention focused on them so they are able to ask all the questions they may have. At some visits, students may also be able to see what an actual classroom looks like at the college of their choice, the class size they will be sitting in, and also check out things like a typical dorm room.
Whether it be in-state colleges or out of state, students should take a look at what that particular college has to offer them and how they will fit in at the college when making their decision. Then look at the experience while at the visit and what the atmosphere was like.
