After the success of See You At The Pole in late September, students decided to make the event a monthly occurrence.
Students gathered in Julia Weathersbee’s room Nov. 7 for breakfast, worship, prayer and an opportunity to meet new people.
Senior Judy Emeodi has taken over the leadership role for the club, formally known as Ignite.
“The purpose of Ignite is to give students a place to worship with each other and to experience fellowship as a student body,” Emeodi said.
To provide an authentic and inviting worship experience, a local group Awakening performed live music for students. The group was organized to perform by senior Jennifer Hur.
“The group Awakening was formed this summer by a few local churches,” Hur said. “We look for outreach opportunities to conduct worship. When Judy asked us to perform, we were really excited.”
“We really appreciate Awakening for volunteering and leading in some awesome worship for us,” Emeodi said.
Ignite meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:15 a.m. in room B200. Any students interested in coming should look for signs around the school or on the club’s Facebook event “McNeil See you AFTER the Pole/Ignite.”
If students are wondering whether Ignite is right for them, Emeodi said the club is open to all.
“Students should come to Ignite because it’s amazing to be surrounded by others who share the same interests and want to grow in their relationship with God,” Emeodi said.
