The local committee members of the Round Rock and Hutto Relay For Life committee group hosted their first Zumbathon May 3 at Round Rock High School. Although the turnout was not as big as expected, people who showed up enjoyed coming out and supporting the fight against cancer.
The relay committee also hosted another event in downtown Hutto May 11. Members of the community came out and enjoyed a day out with their dogs. There was a variety of different vendors located at the event for humans, as well as their dogs. Some examples of vendors that were at the event were the Greyhound rescue, Animal Emergency Clinic and Williamson County Animal Shelter for information about dog care and rescue and other information. For humans, vendors included seafood gumbo, a candy shop, glass items and more.
For students looking for more events to get involved with, check out the Relay For Life page at www.relayforlife.org and search Round rock. The actual Relay For Life event will be held at the Dell Diamond on Sept. 21 from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m.
