Dance Groups Showcase Talent at District-Wide Recital

Dancers from across the district gathered Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at the Performing Arts Center to show off their moves with their classmates. Every dance class from McNeil performed on stage, whether it was the first time or the fourth.

Tiffany Kreider, a Dance III/IV student, has performed at RRISD Intersections since her freshman year. Now that she is a senior, she has ridden herself of nerves and is fully confident in her performance.

“It was kind of bittersweet knowing that it was my last one,” Kreider said. “But I’m glad I could end it by dancing to a fun song everyone knew. Our group did great.”

Kreider was joined by Mia Barnes, who felt the opposite before their dance routine.

“I let my nerves get the best of me, which doesn’t usually happen,” Barnes said. “I didn’t feel very prepared.”

Nevertheless, both girls had fun doing it, dancing jazz style to a remix of “Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Rey.

Padmini Narahari, a member Dance II, was still rather new to the whole event. However, she did not let that intimidate her. She practiced relentlessly at home, and took the stage feeling hardly any nervousness.

“It was exhilarating; I had so much fun,” Narahari said. “Our group messed up in a few places, but we all picked up and kept going.”
