Choir UIL, held at the PAC on April 24, turned out to be a major success. All four choirs received Sweepstakes, which is the highest rating possible in UIL competitions.

“Getting Sweepstakes was a wonderful surprise,” senior Haley Peeler said. “We had all been working so hard and struggling through missing school for snow days, and finally having our work pay off was satisfying not only for us, but for the directors.”

There were many different highlights to the performances that earned Mav Choir the four Sweepstakes trophies.

“The sight-reading part of the UIL contest was the most memorable,” junior Audrey Brock said. “We were very musical with how we sang the song that we had been given only less than ten minutes before.”

Up next for Choir are auditions for the upcoming school year and a banquet on Saturday, May 17.
