Students Find Success at Special Olympics
Members of the Special Olympics team participated in two events of the RRISD Special Olympics last month. McNeil students were successful at both the Round Rock Rotary Track Meet, which took place on April 5, and the Area 13 Special Olympics Cycling Competition that was held on April 19.
At the Round Rock Rotary Track Meet, seniors Jimmy Griffin and Jimmy Torres placed fourth in the 100m dash. The two athletes also performed well in the high jump event, with Griffin placing first and Torres coming in third.
Also performing well at the meet was freshman Sydney Weigand, who placed fifth in the 100m dash and third in the running long jump event.
McNeil students also placed at the cycling competition, with Griffin placing second in the 1K Time Trial and the 10K Road Race, and junior Shae Hallmark earning second place in the 1K Time Trial and first in the 5K Road Race.
