Dash Over to Watch ‘The Maze Runner’

The Maze Runner, has a successfully been introduced to the big screen ranking as the number 1 movie in the world based off of the best-selling novel.

After the much anticipated wait for The Maze Runner, the movie did not fail to disappoint. Based on the best-selling novel by James Dashner, The Maze Runner is a well-executed film with exceptionally good performances by the diverse cast. Each actor stands out, being fully engaged in their character. The movie definitely lived up to my expectations and the fast-paced film never had a dull moment, always keeping me on the edge of my seat and full of many twists and turns.

The movie immediately starts out full of action with Thomas, played by Dylan O’Brien, waking up in a fast-paced elevator shaft which leads him to a group of boys who are trapped in a place called the Glade, part forest surrounded by large enclosed walls which contains an ever-changing maze full of Grievers, giant spider-like creatures.

Like Thomas, none of the boys know why or how they got there or any other recollection of the outside world besides their name. Each morning when the maze opens, a few boys go in to try to find a way out, but to no avail. At night the doors to the maze close and whoever is left inside the maze is stuck with the nasty Grievers and usually don’t survive the night. Thomas tries to figure out clues from the maze as well as uncover the secrets locked in his mind to figure out a way to escape.

Overall, the movie had a great combination of action, suspense and breathtaking scenes along with a bit of comedy. Despite being based on a book, it is not necessary to read the book first to understand what is happening. However, after watching the movie, it definitely keeps viewers wanting more, prompting people to read the books to figure out what happens after the cliffhanger ending.
