FFA’ers Practice Showmanship Before Big Contests
The McNeil FFA Showmanship Livestock Show was more about showmanship than about the actual animal to help prepare the students to excel in larger shows like Travis County Youth Show or Star of Texas.
“If yall get in there and handle your animal well, walk good, and really know your stuff, those judges are gonna love you,” agriculture teacher Larry Vinklarek said.
While showing their animals, the judges ask students questions such as:
- What is the name of your breeder?
- What breed is your animal?
- What feed are you using?
- What is the protein percent in your feed?
Results from the Dec. 8 show were:
Pigs:

Reserve Champion Showman – Julia Freudenberger
Lambs:

Reserve Champion Showman – Jovanni Yanez
Goats:
Grand Champion Showman – Kari Kiefer
