Lady Mavs sign with colleges to run trac
As seniors finish up their first semester and await responses from colleges, some senior
athletes have already signed letters of intent to compete.
Gracen Odendahl will attend the University of Incarnate Word and Sydney Howells will attend
the University of Texas at San Antonio, both for running scholarships.
“We have been practicing track since freshman year,” Odendahl said. “We also do indoor track
and summer track outside of school which has really prepared us to run for college.”
Track is a large time commitment along with school work but the efforts have paid off.
“It’s very exciting to be finally done and being committed to a college,” Howells said. “I went to
a college visit alone and I was nervous at first. But after meeting the coach and some of the
runners, I felt like I would really enjoy my time there.”
These Lady Mavericks will represent McNeil pride at their colleges.
“I hope to go to nationals and compete in running,” Howells said.
