Project Grad hosts Mav Gala
Student groups invited to showcase their achievements
In an effort to raise school spirit and funds for the after-graduation party, Project Grad will host a gala and silent auction on Tuesday Mar. 24. This is a chance for student groups to showcase their achievements and raise money for Project Graduation.
“With the gala, we hope to raise money for Project Graduation,” principal Courtney Acosta said. “Also, we want to showcase our school to parents with students in eighth grade or elementary school.”
At the event, student groups are invited to present a “Brag Board” to display what they have done for the year as a way to show off what makes Mavericks special.
Project Grad is making sure that the Mav Gala is one to remember.
“One thing that has come up in discussions with parents, administrators, teachers, district and community members, especially with the Master Plan, is that McNeil is the best kept secret in the district,” Project Grad coordinator Amy Weir said.
From promoting the event to sponsors to having volunteer parents getting auction items and food, currently the event is a work in progress.
“We really want to get the word out to the community and feeder schools what a great place McNeil is and what great students we have – we don’t want to be a secret anymore.”
Your donation will support the student journalists of McNeil High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
