Highest amount of donations in Sock It to Westwood Competition
The fifth annual Sock it to Westwood competition between McNeil and Westwood came to an end on Thursday, Oct. 8. Unfortunately, the Warriors beat the Mavs and Principal Courtney Acosta had to wear the Warriors’ football jersey.
As winners in 2014, the Mavs collected a total of 2,171 donations. However, this year, Mavericks donated a grand total of 3,375 total donations: 2,933 socks and 442 pair of underwear.
The cheerleaders win a pizza party for donating the most from McNeil with a total of 436 socks and underwear followed by social studies teacher Karol Giblin’s students, who donated 386 socks. Volleyball coach Sami McLane’s students came in third donating 371 items.
The general donation box set up outside Suite 2 garnered 1,960 donations.
