New version of ‘The Jungle Book’ as good as original
The life in the jungle continues with the release of the newest movie starring Neel Sethi, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, and Ben Kingsley, and directed by Jon Favreau. The live version of the cartoon The Jungle Book proved to be a hit after its release on April 15 with its amazing effects, realistic animation of the animals and action.
The new movie did a good job of following the story of the original 1967 version which was based on Rudyark Kipling’s short story. The tiger Shere Khan appears and threatens Mowgli, who journeys throughout the jungle, meeting the same beloved characters of Baloo, Bagheera, and Kala along the way.
The Jungle Book weaved in a good combination of humour and action. The wittiness was well done for any age group to understand and have a laugh while the action was serious enough to be entertaining and to grip the attention of the audience. Also, some of the action scenes would leave scratches on Mowgli and instead of suddenly disappearing in the next scene, the movie did a good job of keeping them there; it made the movie more realistic.
As well, The Jungle Book – to pay homage to the Disney animated version – includes classic songs from the original: Bare Necessities and I Wan’na Be Like You. The music was added to flow within the movie and not be overbearing with songs and distract from the plot.
