Welcome Back, Mavs
Dress up days set tone for engaging school year
From baseball to Hawaiian, Welcome Week dress up days, Aug. 29-Sept. 2, have the theme of “up.”
“We always try to keep it simple so we brainstorm a few simple themes to start with, and then we have to veto some options to come up with the final theme, ”Student Council President Laura Wimmer said.
The StuCo-sponsored event gives Mavericks the opportunity to show school spirit and pride while having a little fun.
The dress up themes are:
Monday, 8/29 – “Batter Up!”: Wear baseball attire, such as clothes and hats with your favorite baseball teams.
Tuesday, 8/30 – “Lighten Up!”: Wear bright and neon clothes and accessories.
Wednesday, 8/31 – “Giddy Up!”: Wear western or Texas related clothing.
Thursday, 9/1 – “Surf’s Up!”: Wear Hawaiian themed clothing.
Friday, 9/2 – “Spirit Up!”: Show your Mav spirit by wearing spirit wear, or the McNeil colors: Navy blue, white and green.
“Welcome Week is a fun way to get the freshmen involved in all the fun things that we do,” Wimmer said. “It’s a way to be a Maverick and a way to be a part of the group.”
