Food Pantry opens for students in need
National Honor Society will sponsor a food bank for McNeil students who are in need of a meal.
“We saw there was a need for one,” NHS sponsor Lindsey Phillips said.
The idea for the food bank grew from the organization’s service project of making snack bags distributed to Mavericks.
NHS is asking for donations from all Mavericks and clubs or organizations. Donated items can include microwavable and non perishable foods such as: Mac and Cheese, pretzel packs, granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruit and nut mix packs, Goldfish, protein bars, mini cereal boxes, applesauce packs, popcorn, pop tarts, Carnation breakfast shakes, trail mix packs, Cheez-Its, cracker snack packs, dried fruit, and snack packs.
“I think it’s a great cause and I see no need for students to be hungry,” math teacher Alissa Tadlock said.
When the food bank is up and running, all students will be able to donate their time along with goods.
“Let’s make this a great McNeil supporting effort,” Attendance Officer Cathy Booker said.
Your donation will support the student journalists of McNeil High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
