Students show Maverick Pride at pep rally
Starting at 3:50 p.m., students eagerly poured into the gym as the pep rally began. With the drumline starting, the band joined in, and soon everyone was singing the school alma mater. After that, the crowd hushed as the choir sang the national anthem, everyone with their hands over their hearts.
“I love coming to the pep rallies,” sophomore Victoria Hunter said. “I mostly attend because of the drumline. It’s so cool.”
Next, began the performance of the Majestics. Students cheered loudly and even sang along as they danced. Following that, came the cheerleaders. They created towers, pyramids, and more.
“The Majestics dance is by far my favorite part about the pep rally,” sophomore Kendra Barkley said. “Just the way they choreograph everything makes it flow.”
Then, Kevin Qi and Garrett Marks proceeded to interview the captains of the sports teams, getting everyone excited for the fall seasons. After interviews, the drumline began to play again, signalling all students to leave the gym.
“I love listening to the band. I get to cheer my friends on as they play,” sophomore Desirae Gonzalez said.
