New Year, New Schedule
Built-in tutoring time to benefit all
The bus is late. A student doesn’t have a ride home. Maybe students have a job or have to drive their siblings to school. As a result, the opportunity of attending tutorials to improve grades and understanding becomes smaller and smaller.
Conflicts with student and teacher availability is what prompted a major change to next year’s schedule that imbeds 40 minutes of flex time into the school day.
Students will now have access to a conference period with teachers each day, with mandatory tutorials required for those needing help with grades.
In order for the schedule to accommodate the middle of the day for conferences, 10 minutes will be subtracted from all class periods, altering the daily class and lunch schedule.
This is the first year that the flex time will be implemented into the bell schedule and both students and teachers will have to adjust to this new practice designed to increased student success.
