RRISD begins trial to allow student-to-student emails
As the need for student-to-student collaboration and communication increases, RRISD decided to allow a pilot trial of student-to-student email from their school accounts during the rest of the 2016-17 school year. With the data collected from this year’s run, district officials will determine whether to go forward with this new program.
“As collaborative class work increases, allowing students the ability to email each other through their RRISD Gmail accounts has become an important tool in learning,” ITS Krista Tyler said.
Although students will be able to email each other, faculty members and RRISD staff, no one from outside the district will be able to send or receive messages from student accounts.
“Student-to-student emailing wasn’t available before because the need was less evident,” Tyler said. “As needs change, we change accordingly.”
