Come One, Come All
Students show off school spirit during Welcome Week.
The hallways that were once home to generations of Mavericks were once again filled with chatter of the new school year. Reuniting students gathered to reminisce about the past years, while new Mavs wondered what moments they would talk about in years to come.
“I’m excited about graduating, but then again I’m not,” senior Megan Alvarez said. “I’m going to go into the real world. I’ll miss the all of the dress up weeks.”
The year kicked off with wearing sunglasses on Wednesday, Crazy socks on Thursday, and Friday had each class sporting a different color: freshmen in green, sophomores in pink, juniors in red, and seniors in blue.
“My favorite part of being a Maverick is that I get to join a lot of clubs with my friends,” freshman Thanusree Amisetti said. “I’m in DECA, HOSA, and StuCO.”
Welcome Week opened up students to join the community and to get involved in the school. Pride was encouraged, embraced, and in abundance within the faculty and student body.
“My favorite part of the Welcome Week was the crazy socks because I love socks,” junior Sara Cantu said. “I’m glad that we Mavs can get together and make people feel more at home.”
