Theater students show award-winning creativity at annual RenFest field trip
Theater students attended the Texas Renaissance Festival Nov. 7 for a taste of that time period and to take part in an acting competition, marking the 10th year for a Maverick to place in an event.
“Going to RenFest gave me a clear perspective on how life was back in the medieval days and how people lived,” junior Riley Rust said.
While Rust won first place in the monologue contest, senior Grant Wilson placed third.
In the drawing competition, junior Jackie McKenna also won first place for her self portrait.
“I drew this piece from inspiration of the witch burnings that took place in the 15th century,” McKenna said. “It took me seven hours to complete.”
