Buses Take A SMART Turn
As part of Round Rock ISD continued effort to ensure the highest level of safety for their students, the district has implemented a new bus system called Secured Mobility Authorized Ridership Technology (SMART) Tag which will allow for parents to view when their child has gotten on and off the bus.
“These tag will not only ensure the safety of our students, but also keep anyone who’s not assigned to that bus off,” Associate Principal John Mark Edwards said.
In order for parents to view their child’s location they must first register through the Parent Portal at https://parent.smart-tag.net/%40roundrock.
“The SMART Tag really makes me and my parents feel more safe about riding in the bus system,” sophomore Charles Reavis said.
These tags went into effect starting Wednesday, Feb. 26 and will be required for any student to access the bus. Any student who forgets their tag will be manually entered and their parent will be notified be via email.
