Fall Orchestra Concert on Nov. 3
The McNeil Orchestra will perform at the Raymond E. Hartfield Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Nov. 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the general public and attendees are recommended to arrive around 6:15 p.m. and park in the PAC or front staff parking lot.
Orchestra members received the pieces they will perform during the first week of school and have prepared since then. While there weren’t any after school rehearsals for this particular concert, students were expected to practice on their own time.
“We would practice with Mr. Caswell and take notes,” Symphony orchestra member Sania Pathan said. “We practice individually at home to prepare for group rehearsals so that it goes more smoothly.”
The concert was originally scheduled for Oct. 6, but was re-scheduled to the current date after practice rehearsals were canceled.
“Mr. Caswell had something going on so he missed a few days of rehearsal,” Pathan said. “It seemed like the better decision to postpone the concert so that we could all feel more prepared.”
Now, with more time and preparation before the Concert, Philharmonic and Symphony orchestras will each perform two to three pieces.
“I like the three pieces Symphony is playing,” Pathan said. “We’ve been practicing this music since the beginning of the year, so I’m excited to finally perform it.”
