Texas schools are changing their schedules as they switch from a traditional five-day school week to a new four-day schedule.
Schools across Texas have already made the switch and opinions vary on the benefits.
“I believe it’s good for students, but it’s bad for the school because students get less time to learn,” sophomore Tam Hoang said. “I believe that students will have more time to work on their homework, overall I think it’s better, but students will have less time learning,”
Despite the negatives, some are optimistic about the switch. The four-day school weeks have many advantages for students.
“I believe after-school activities would be extended, so more time for the clubs and extracurricular activities,” Hoang said. “Students can use the extra time of Fridays for studying and the teacher can also assign them more work, which could be benedict to students”
However, some teachers may approach the four-day week differently.
“Teachers will most likely give more work to students,” Hoang said. “[They’ll] try to put more emphasis on lessons.”
While opinions may differ, only time will tell if this new schedule truly benefits Texas schools and their students.
