On Friday, Oct. 20, American Sign Language students joined the deaf education class to celebrate Halloween together. They painted their partner as a Halloween-themed animal or character they could sign to each other. ASL classes meet up with the deaf education class every other Friday to practice the signs they have learned and hang out.
“It’s lots of fun to work with the kids in deaf ed,” ASL student Matilda Willcourt said. “It gives us more real-world experience, I always love going into deaf ed every other Friday and working with them, on the 20th we met up and decided to paint each other as Halloween items that you could sign, for instance, we painted our hands like spiders and then signed the sign for a spider, we had a great time, and it definitely put us in the Halloween spirit.”
