There will be no school for students on Monday, Feb. 19. This three-day weekend will be a “homework-free weekend” meaning teachers will not be allowed to assign homework for the long weekend. Senior Liam Utterback believes that three-day weekends are beneficial for students.
“I look forward to the three-day weekend, I feel as if after long periods of having a constant five-day work week that it is good to have a three-day (weekend) every now and then as a mental break,” Utterback said. “It’s going to be a nice break, I plan to work and hang out with my girlfriend.”
Although students will have no school, teachers will still have to attend a Professional Development Conference located at Kalahari Resort.
“I’m jealous but it’s what the district decided,” teacher Alice Snow said. “I’m sure it’s a nice holiday for students. I know a lot of you have been busy with all sorts of extracurricular activities so it gives you a chance to catch up and rest up.”
