Non-Senior Final Exams Exemption Info

As the school year comes to an end, it’s important for students to understand the scheduling of the final exams. At McNeil, final exams are seen as a crucial role when assessing students’ knowledge and understanding of their courses. However, there’s good news for those who have excelled throughout the recent semester, as opportunities to exempt certain finals are available for eligible students.

In order to qualify for exemption from a final exam, students must meet specific requirements. The first of which is a semester average of 85 or above, as well as having no more than two absences in a class throughout the semester. One important fact is that attendance on exam days is mandatory in order to be eligible for exemption. Tardiness also counts towards your absences for exemption purposes.

For students aiming to be exempt from exams, it’s essential to stay informed about the process and timeline. The exemption request form will be available to underclassmen from May 13 to 14. Teachers will then verify exemptions from May 15 to 16. The final exemption list will be shared with underclassmen on May 17. It’s important to keep track of these deadlines to ensure they don’t miss out on exemption opportunities.

During the week of final exams, all students are expected to report to all scheduled classes, study halls and exams. Those exempting exams will still need to be present in class for attendance purposes. Students must also adhere to campus procedures for leaving early during exam week. If these procedures aren’t followed correctly it could result in transportation restrictions. With proper preparation and understanding of the exam process, students will be able to navigate the final exam week with confidence and success.
