Today at around 10:15 a.m. McNeil High School experienced a power outage primarily concentrated in the C wing and areas in the B wing. While power outages were in these areas specifically, air conditioning was out across the school.
“Austin Energy [came] to campus to work on restoring the power, so it’s an issue that the city has to come help us work with,” Associate Principal John Mark Edwards said. “But we have not yet heard what caused it.”
The outage caused multiple classes to be moved to other areas in the building to continue instruction.
“It was a bit stressful because my class doesn’t have windows and it was really dark so we had to move to the library,” pre-calculus teacher Jordan O’Brien said. “A lot of the activities I had planned we couldn’t do, so it was just a little bit stressful.”
The initial outage lasted for about 45 minutes, with the power being restored at approximately 10:52 a.m. and later went out again.
