What’s All the Commotion? Senior Year
Senior Year is
- Chill
- Laid-back
- Stress Free
- None of the Above
The right answer? None of the Above.
A common goal that is unanimously desired among the bustling hallways of every high school is the anticipation of being a senior. That entails that we, as students, are not obligated to work as much or try as hard as we have in the past, simply because we are seniors.
Can someone call bull on that, because so far senior year has been nothing but a stressful endeavor of college applications, scholarship money and sleep deprivation. While being a senior is nothing new, it sure is scary. As freshmen, we were so excited about the prospect of working hard, joining clubs and getting into an amazing college, but now it’s extremely disillusioning.
After several years of AP classes and pulling all-nighters, I have seen a pattern emerge within my senior friends: lack of motivation. We are all burned out. The stress of applications is slowly sucking the life out of us. For those who have turned in their applications, congrats you are on a new level of stress: whether or not you get accepted into your first choice school.
Senior year held a lot of expectations for me, but it’s not going the way I want. Friends are on edge, family is pressure, and homework is something that no one really wants to do. The one bright side to senior year is the prospect of graduating. It’s been a great three years, but senior status is really not the cherry on top.
Is Senior Status
- Appealing
- Dreadful
- Exciting
- None of the Above
