The loss of two influential artists leaves a gaping hole

Four days apart, two major celebrities, singer David Bowie and actor Alan Rickman, left this world leaving fans mourning. The two died at age 69 after battling cancer.

The first shock passed through by Bowie’s death on Jan.10. just after he released his recent and final album ‘Blackstar’ on Jan 8, his last birthday, and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s list. Since 1969, the famous singer has made his mark in rock history and his fan’s hearts. His music impacted many generations and current generations and will continue to appeal to future generations. Bowie also ventured through a small acting career, appearing in movies such as The Labyrinth and The Man Who Fell to Earth.    

The second shock came on Jan.14 after Alan Rickman’s family reported his death. Rickman influenced many people during his acting career; he portrayed the both hated and loved Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter and the antagonist Hans Gruber in Die Hard, along with many other movie and theatrical roles. Rickman was famous for his unique deep voice.

In recognition of the two men tributes are planned. Bowie is going to have a constellation named for him. Bowie had created several songs which were spaced theme, one of his famous songs is ‘Ziggy Stardust’. For Rickman, his fans all over in social media are sharing moments of Rickman to commemorate his life.

The men’s families, friends, fans, co-workers, are all mourning for the loss of these two great men who contributed to pop culture. Their impact on the world will never be forgotten.
