After three months of not seeing classmates creates the realization that new fashion trends have started up over the summer. A few of the fashion trends mentioned below started last school year and continue to be a trend today. A good amount of them do not deserve the hype and will be explained why. 

Adidas Sambas

Adidas Sambas are a cute, stylish shoe. They go with many outfits, but it’s very common to see many people wearing the same colored sambas. They’re mainly overrated because most people either get the same white or black pair. There are other good shoe options such as Adidas Superstars or Nike Blazers. Also, Sambas increased in price because they became so popular, eventually when they become less popular, they’ll drop in price and be less valuable. Instead of getting Sambas, people should get different colors or buy shoes they truly want, without influence from others.

Purple Brand jeans

The color of Purple Bland jeans isn’t pleasing – mainly the tight ones. As a trend people will keep the Purple Brand tag on to show they spent a lot of money on it, making them a sign of status and not fashion. Spending a lot of money on jeans is pointless because that money could be used for a greater purpose, but it’s sadly used on jeans that don’t stand out apart from their branding. Overspending for certain brands like Purple Brand is unnecessary because they aren’t worth the money, they sell similar looking pairs of jeans at Ross for $20 or less. Purple Brand jeans are only a trend because they’re expensive and they make people look rich.  

Bubble Skirt

The bubble skirt is aesthetically pleasing to look at, just not pleasing to listen to. The skirt sounds like trash bags ruffling together. There are other skirts that look better like the balloon skirt, tulle skirt, etc. Some people can rock this skirt well, but they shouldn’t be used too often. Bubble skirts should only be used for formal occasions because it matches the atmosphere.

Cut Collared Shirts

Cut collared shirts just recently became trending in 2023. Sometimes the shirt looks cute cut, but other times it’s best to just keep the collar. It especially doesn’t make sense with sweaters because you wear it to keep you warm. A lot of people can pull off the cut collared shirts, but they shouldn’t do it to every shirt.

Bows

Bows became trending in Nov.-Dec. of 2023. After that, everyone was putting pink bows in their hair and their clothing. The bows are cute, but should not be used for every pink/white outfit someone wears. At that point you’d see everyone wearing bows with everything. Bows took over everything and became a microtrend. In marketing, as well as Sambas, bows increased in price compared to how cheap they used to be.
