Although they faced some delays, swim team members swam well at the Round Rock Invitational meet on Oct. 11. The team took third place out of 20 teams. The weather during the meet gave the swimmers trouble, but they still managed to swim 39 best times at the important meet.“It would rain, and then be sunny, and then rain again,” senior Kaelee Lewis said. “It was really weird, but we managed to swim well.”
The team also faced problems at the Rattan Creek pool, where they usually have their practices in the morning. Because the heater broke at Rattan and the weather is cooling off, the team now practices at the Wells Branch pool.
“We did pretty well, considering the unusual practices,” senior Ethan Beier said. “And we’ll do even better when everything goes back to normal.”
Despite the setbacks, swimmers are determined to improve at future meets.
“I just changed from breaststroke to 500-free,” Lewis said. “I’m ready to mark my best time at the next meet.”
The coaches will the team will have a successful rest of the season.
“Coach Chapa and I are extremely proud of every one of our team members for their contributions,” coach Johnny Foss said. “I truly believe that many great experiences and accomplishments are in store for this group of elite competitors.
