The swim team did well at the TISCA meet on Nov. 17, placing in five events and the girls placing second place out of 48 teams overall.
The team was probably running on excitement from the successful Bob Stallings Aggieland Invitational Meet the week before.
“Our mighty Maverick swimmers did not disappoint in their first-ever Bob Stallings Aggieland Invitational appearance,” coach Johnny Foss said. “I had an absolute blast and I am very proud of each and every swimmer.”
Though the meet was long, the team was successful. The girls took second place in a relay out of 35 different relays against 28 other teams.
“It was a fun meet, but I was tired,” sophomore Vipwanee Limchantra said. “We had prelims and finals in the same day, which is exhausting.”
Fatigue didn’t stop the team from doing well. The swimmers made a total of 45 new personal best times with two most valuable players at the meet. One of these swimmers was Tong Ma, who earned his first qualifying-time for the TISCA Meet.
“It felt great in the pool,” Ma said. “And it was great to see my teammates and coaches supporting me.”
