On Jan. 25, the boys’ varsity lacrosse team opened the season with a game against Anderson High School. The Mavericks lost against the Trojans with a score of 7-19, but recovered during their second game by successfully dominating Rouse High 17-5.

With the absence of several players due to insufficient academics and injuries, and the addition of several new faces, the team is experiencing some difficulties.

“We’ve been practicing for a while, but after winter break ended we began practicing every day,” goalie Chase Stone said. “I think we’re good, but we’re a little rusty without all of our players on the team.”

Despite losing to both Cy-Fair and Westwood, 10-14 and 8-10 respectively, their fifth and most recent game resulted in a successful victory against Georgetown with a score of 10-5.
