Although the Mavs lost the football game against Westwood 7-31, Westwood took the fall to McNeil in the clothing drive for the first time in years.

Although the Mavericks lost the gridiron match-up against the Warriors Oct. 10, the students pulled out a victory in the socks and underwear drive for the Round Rock ISD Clothes Closet.

Most students think that the McNeil-Westwood game is a rivalry game. Contrary to belief, Westwood is actually McNeil’s sister school. McNeil started out as a ninth grade center for Westwood. McNeil didn’t become its own high school until 1992 with their first graduating class in 1994.

Westwood’s football, as well as its academics, has always been outstanding, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when McNeil took a 7-31 loss.

During the third quarter, running back Jaehlin Wilder caught five passes gaining 65 yards and scoring the only touchdown of the night for the Mavs.

Quarterback Zack Epstein stepped into the game throwing five passes and completing four of those passes.
